WHAT IS BREATH?
~ The Source of Life Energy ~
You do not need
to leave your room.
Remain sitting at your table and listen.
Do not even listen, simply wait. Do
not even wait, be quite still and ordinary. The world will freely offer itself to be unmasked, it has no choice.
It will roll in ecstasy at your feet.
Franz Kafka
The breath
is the principal power needed in healing.
All the various manifestations of the magnetic
current which come from the tips of the fingers, from the glance, and from the pores of the skin are indirect manifestations of the breath. It is the strength of breath which gives magnetic power in all its different aspects. Weakness of breath causes weakness of mind and body, and strength of breath is strength to both. One cannot lack energy and magnetism if one's breath is full of energy. Therefore before developing any other means of healing the power of the
breath should first be developed.
Hazrat Inayat Khan
Abide in an infinitely spacious place, devoid of trees, hills, dwellings.
Let your gaze dissolve in empty space, until your mind relaxes.
In the empty space which separates two instants of awareness,
radiant spatiality is revealed.
Vijñânabhairava Tantra
Remember: always try to breathe
through your nostrils, and not through your mouth, because air must contact the olfactory nerves to stimulate your brain and put it into its natural rhythm. If you don't breathe through your nose, in a sense you're only half alive.
Robert C. Fulford, D.O.
Because no cancer cell exists,
the respiration of which is intact,
it cannot be disputed that cancer could be prevented if the respiration of the body cells would be kept intact.
Otto Warburg,
1966 Nobel prize Recipient
The major miracles of yogis
are in the reduction of respiration and accumulation of carbon dioxide. For thousands
of years the yogis were looking for “prana”,
which is somewhere in food, air, etc. It turned out that carbon dioxide is prana. Here is the main source of life - carbon dioxide. If you accumulate it, you become a “superhuman”; if you lose it,
you suffer.
K.P.Buteyko, 1969
The breath is the horse, the mind is the rider.
Tibetan saying
All healing originally resides in the human breathing system.
Rudolf Steiner

supply of the body
carbon dioxide spreads its protective wings. Johannes Friedrich Miescher, MD, 1885
70% of our nutrition comes via the breath. Gurdjeff
I've learned
that there's nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies and feeling their breath
on your cheeks.

Torodial life flow
is a dance of breath and energy in and out and through the body, the trees, the cosmos. Microcosms of the macrocosm.
The smoke of my own breath echoes, ripples...
I sing the body electric.
Walt Whitman

Mind movement needs
breath movement; mind moving
fast needs fast movement in breath. According to Ayurveda,
which measures life in breaths,
your life will be shortened if your breathing is too fast, as when you
are in anger or in fear.
Osho
To use your breathing
to nurture mindfulness, just tune in to
the feeling of it... the feeling of the breath
coming into your body and the feeling of the breath
leaving your body. That's all. Just feeling the breath. Breathing and knowing that you're breathing.
This doesn't mean deep breathing or forcing your
breathing or trying to feel something special, or
wondering if you're doing it right. It doesn't mean
thinking about your breathing either. It's just
a bare bones awareness of the breath moving
in and the breath moving out.
Jon Kabat-Zinn
It is our quiet time.
We do not speak, because the voices
are within us. It is our quiet time.
We do not walk, because the earth
is all within us. It is our quiet time.
We do not dance, because the music has lifted us to a place where the spirit is.
It is our quiet time.
We rest with all of nature. We wake when
the seven sisters wake.
We greet them in the sky over the
opening of the kiva.
Diné (Navajo)
There are two graces
in breathing:
drawing in air and discharging it.
The former constrains,
the latter refreshes.
So marvelously is life mixed.
Thank God then when he presses
you, and thank him again when
he lets you go.
Goethe
There's a way of breathing
that's a shame and suffocation.
And there's another way of expiring
a love breath that lets you
open infinitely.
